Fulbright Hays
Group Project Abroad Vietnam Study Program
The Seattle Community College District was awarded a Fulbright Hays Group Project Abroad in 2005 to support
14 higher education and K-12 faculty to visit Vietnam in order to work on individual curriculum projects.
In addition to four weeks in Vietnam which included high school/university visits and historical and cultural
sites throughout the country, faculty participated in five pre-and post trip orientation, debriefing and
curriculum/resource sessions. Our pre-and post sessions also involved key professors from the Southeast
Asia Center at the University of Washington and a K-12 curriculum specialist. The grant also funded library
resources for representative institutions. In order to participate, faculty from the partner institutions
and sectors of education submitted proposals for curriculum they would like to revise or establish — and had
full support from their home institutions.
A special thank you to Rose Dang from South Seattle Community College for her outstanding service in
orientation sessions and as Faculty Leader during the Vietnam trip phase of the Vietnam Study Program.
You may contact Andrea Insley, GPA Grant Director at ext. 3899 or via email for additional information.
