Seattle Central Community College, located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, is known for its ethnically and culturally diverse student body, innovative student services and coordinated studies curriculum for college transfers. South Seattle Community College, located in a residential West Seattle neighborhood, offers many unique college transfer and workforce programs and is distinguished by the breadth of partnerships that support programs such as aviation, culinary arts, health care, horticulture, the construction trades and winemaking. The Seattle Vocational Institute, a division of Seattle Central, provides short-term programs in basic skills, vocational and workforce training that assist youth and adults in attaining education and employment. The Seattle Community Colleges are state-supported public institutions accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities*, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. Each college is accredited individually; Seattle Vocational Institute is accredited jointly with Seattle Central.
