For the first time in Seattle Colleges’ history, students from across the district will join for a combined commencement ceremony on Friday, June 16, 2017, at Safeco Field.
The combined ceremony brings together graduates from all four campuses — Seattle Central College, North Seattle College, South Seattle College, and Seattle Vocational Institute. The larger venue allows more family and friends to attend, offers convenient parking and public transportation options, and provides technology and space to support graduates, faculty/staff and guests who have audio, visual, and mobility needs.
Empowered to Achieve is this year’s commencement theme, recognizing the accomplishments of our graduates and the work of faculty and staff toward their success.
Students, their families and friends, Seattle College employees, and community members are all encouraged to attend. More information will be shared as soon as it’s available. See you at Commencement on June 16th!
Once you’ve registered for your final courses you must complete a graduation application even if you do not plan to participate in the Commencement ceremony.
You may participate in the commencement ceremony if you have completed your program requirements for a degree, certificate or diploma during:
You may also participate if you plan to graduate Summer Quarter 2017.
If you or your guests have mobility issues or are hearing- and/or sight-impaired, contact your campus Disability Support Services

Yes. Graduates will have their names read as they cross the stage.
Safeco Field has plenty of seating, so there is no limit to how many family members and friends you bring to see you walk across the stage!
Graduates can arrive at Safeco Field on Friday, June 16, as early as 3 p.m. and should arrive no later than 5:00 p.m.
It is likely the ceremony will be livestreamed. We are finalizing details and will post them here soon.
Professional photographers contracted by Seattle Colleges will be on hand to capture the ceremony and your moment on stage. Details on when and how to purchase these photos will be provided here as the date nears.
Your guests are welcome to take photographs from their seats at any time during the ceremony.
Day care is not available. Children are welcome and must be supervised by an adult at all times.
The venue will be open to the public beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Fortunately, there are several transportation options to get to Safeco Field: King County Metro or Sound Transit buses, or Link Light Rail. Ride sharing services, such as Uber or Lyft, are also available.
The Seattle Mariners Transportation page shows the various ways to get to and places to park at or near Safeco Field. Note that if you choose to park at Safeco Field, the fee is $10 on Commencement Day.
